Ways I Can Help

All families are unique, and I support every shape and form of a family or individual.  Therefore, my role in supporting your family will be unique to your needs and desires. Below are some of the most common ways

I am qualified to assist.

Newborn Feeding Support

I support however you choose to feed your baby. I have training in basic breastfeeding/bodyfeeding, as well as bottle feeding. You will not be alone in this all consuming, sometimes challenging responsibility. If bodyfeeding presents any concerns, I can refer you to a lactation consultant in those crucial first weeks, and will help you follow their instruction and guidance when you are home.

Connection to Resources

I am continuously growing my relationships in the birth & postpartum community.  This allows me to connect you to vetted resources such as: lactation consultants, parents groups, chiropractors, physical therapists, counselors, or even child care providers. Additionally, my training with DONA International provides access to evidence based research.  You will not be alone with any questions or concerns that come up. Together we will find an answer that supports you and your family's needs.

Support of Physical

& Emotional Needs

If you've given birth, I am here to assist with comfort measures for the healing body. I will secure you time to shower and care for your own needs. I am also a confidential ear for you to work through any emotional challenges. This goes for any partners or support roles who are present in your home. I am here to nurture your family as a whole, while you navigate its changing dynamics. Additionally, I am educated in postpartum mood disorders and can connect you with support groups and professional support when desired.

Light Housework & Meal Preparation

I am here to lighten the load when your little one arrives. Laundry, tidying up, household organization and light meal preparation will keep you cozy and well nourished while you devote your energy to your little one. I will remain respectful of your home and practices in the process. Our prenatal meeting will help you and any additional support person(s) dive deeper into this division of labor, so there is a plan in place for the day to day household tasks. We can even discuss meal planning or organize a meal train prenatally, so that you are more prepared when baby arrives.

Newborn Care Assistance

I am educated and experienced in newborn care. I can demonstrate and assist with essential tasks such as: feeding, bathing, soothing, and establishing healthy sleep habits. I will follow and respect your parenting choices.  My goal is to guide you and your baby in learning to communicate, and to make space for you to develop your own way of doing things.

Sibling Adjustment

If there are older siblings in the home, we can work together to build routines that will accommodate your entire family and keep schedules moving smoothly. I can demonstrate ways to include siblings in caring for the new baby, and can spend time with them while you connect with baby.  Most importantly, I can act as a cushion to ensure you still receive one on one time with older siblings, as they too navigate their changing roles in your family.

I serve most of Berrien County, Michigan including: St. Joseph, Benton Harbor, Stevensville, Bridgman, Three Oaks, and Berrien Springs.
